The scoliosis test is performed as a forward bend test: The forward bend test is used most commonly in schools and by physicians to screen for scoliosis. During the test, the physician has the child bend forward slowly. The feet are kept together and knees are held straight, the arms are dangling loosely.

Imbalances in the rib cage, spine or other deformities along the back could be a sign of scoliosis.
